College Assistant Migrant Program (CAMP)

The Coordinator of Outreach and Recruitment at Western Michigan University Division of Multicultural Affairs will be primarily responsible for managing and overseeing recruitment and outreach activities for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). The recruiter will serve as a liaison with students, parents, and other interested parties primarily in South Texas and throughout the state of Michigan. This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position with a competitive benefits package.

The interested individual must be team-oriented and have a passion for working with the Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker (MSFW) population, higher education, and college access. Additionally, strong organization and public speaking skills are necessary to successfully navigate this position.

Minimum qualifications required are a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, bilingual in English and Spanish, one year of relevant experience, a valid driver’s license, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Additional requirements include ability to travel during concentrated recruitment periods, and work irregular shifts as well as extended hours (which may include weekends and holidays).

Desired qualifications include experience working with MSFW community, one year of experience working with educational programs for migrant and/or community involvement programs, some experience with advising, and familiarity with education issues in targeted population.
